About Representative Dotie Joseph

Representative Dotie Joseph is the proud daughter of Haitian immigrants and a lifelong public servant with deep roots in community advocacy. Born in Haiti and raised in North Miami, she attended Miami-Dade public schools before earning her bachelor’s degree from Yale University and her Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center.


Her early legal career was shaped by her service in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, where she strengthened her passion for advancing justice, equity, and the rule of law. She later litigated employment discrimination cases nationwide, earning a reputation as a fierce advocate for civil rights and human dignity.


Now serving her fourth term in the Florida House of Representatives, Rep. Joseph proudly represents District 108—one of the most vibrant, diverse, and culturally rich communities in Miami-Dade County. In the Legislature, she has been a leading voice on issues such as equal access to education, healthcare equity, public safety, voting rights, and economic opportunity.

Throughout her career, Rep. Joseph has remained focused on uplifting underserved communities and ensuring that Florida’s laws and policies reflect the needs, values, and aspirations of the people she serves.
